Abstract
This study aims to analyze the representation of morality and poverty in the film "Broker." The film emphasizes morality and poverty through its main characters: So Young, Sang Hyeon, and Dong Soo. This research employs semiotic theory by identifying symbols or signs of morality and poverty. The research method is qualitative, with data collected through documentation of scenes related to morality and poverty. Data analysis is conducted using Roland Barthes' method. Data validation is carried out using triangulation techniques. The result of this study shows that there is a moral dilemma in the characters So Young, Sang Hyeon, and Dong Soo. In the end, guilt and humanism won over the dilemma of poverty. On the other hand, poverty is represented by the depiction of the poor living conditions and simple clothing. There is a myth that suggests poverty is closely associated with crime.
