Abstract

Students in the final stages of their studies often face significant academic pressures, including tight deadlines for completing final assignments, final exams, and preparation for entering the workforce or continuing their education to a higher level. The objectives of this study were (1) to examine the relationship between social support and gratitude with resilience in final year students; (2) to examine the relationship between social support and resilience in final year students; and (3) to examine the relationship between gratitude and resilience in final year students. The subjects of this study were active students who were final year students from the 2017, 2018, and 2019 intakes at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta with a sample of 100. Sampling used the nonprobability sampling method with a purposive sampling technique. Data collection in this study used the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC. The results of this study are that: 1) there is a relationship between peer social support and gratitude with resilience in final year students. 2) there is a positive relationship between peer social support and resilience in final year students. 3) there is a positive relationship between gratitude and resilience in final year students. The implication of this study is that increasing peer social support and gratitude can strengthen students' resilience in the final year of their studies, which in turn helps them cope with academic stress and the challenges of transitioning to the workforce. Therefore, educational institutions should consider interventions that facilitate the development of social support and gratitude among students to support their mental well-being and readiness to face future challenges.
