Abstract

Ongoing global warming has caused changes in seasonal patterns, leading to unpredictable rainfall. This situation complicates the process of drying clothes, especially when the house is empty and the drying rack is left outside. To address this issue, this study designed and developed an automatic folding drying rack prototype based on ESP32 with a roof system that can automatically move forward and backward using a rain sensor. The device is also equipped with a fan to aid in drying clothes during cloudy or rainy weather. The selection of the DC 60GA775 motor as the driving system was deemed appropriate, given the 15 kg.fcm torque and 50 RPM speed required for automatic rack operation. The system integrates with a Telegram application for real-time monitoring, allowing users to receive images of the drying rack's condition and remote notifications. The methods used include preliminary studies, concept design, tool fabrication, integration with the Telegram application, performance testing, and data analysis. The results show that command features like /start, /cuaca, /cek, /photo, and /flash facilitate remote control and monitoring of the drying rack with accurate weather and position information. The system adjusts the rack's position with stable motor responses (0.71 seconds without rain, 0.75 seconds for light rain, 0.65 seconds for heavy rain). Ultrasonic sensors are accurate at 6 cm and 10 cm but less effective at 22 cm. Operating time and current consumption increase with the weight of the clothes, indicating the need for a design that accounts for load. Direct drying can accommodate 12 clothes with high efficiency, while using hangers increases the capacity to 16 clothes but reduces drying efficiency, suggesting the need for a balance between capacity and efficiency
