Abstract

The process of how someone finds their partner is crucial in determining the conditions of life after marriage. One way to find a marriage partner is through online dating media. Despite being viewed negatively by some, these applications have been the source of various success stories of people getting married. This study aims to explain the quality of marriages that are built through an online dating application. The subjects for this study were selected using purposive sampling techniques, with criteria including women or men who married their partners through meeting on an online dating application, with a minimum marriage duration of five years, and who are Indonesian citizens. The method used is descriptive qualitative, analyzed thematically. Data and information were collected through interviews. The results of this study show that there are three elements affecting marriage: the dynamics in finding a partner, the conditions accompanying the marriage, and the interactions within the marriage. In conclusion, meeting a partner through an online dating application does not have a specific influence on the quality of the marriage as long as each individual can accept their partner's strengths and weaknesses and has the awareness to always maintain and sustain communication within the marriage.
