Abstract

A traffic accident is an unexpected and unintentional road event where a motor vehicle collides with another object and is damaged, this accident causes losses that can result in death, injury, and property loss. Factors of compliance with the use of motorcycle riding Personal Protective Equipment include knowledge, attitude and the incidence of traffic accidents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and the incidence of accidents with compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment for motorcycle riding among FH UMS students. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study amounted to 1302 with a sample of 297 respondents. The sampling technique used proportional stratified random sampling. Data collection using a questionnaire via google form. Statistical tests were carried out with the contingency coefficient. The results showed that there was a relationship between the knowledge variable and compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment for motorcycle riding (0,013), while the attitude variable and the incidence of accidents had no relationship with compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment for motorcycle riding with a p-value of (0.575) and (0.294) respectively. The conclusion of the study is that the knowledge and attitude of students are good but not yet obedient to compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment for motorcycle riding.
