Abstract

Dengue fever (DHF) is still a serious health problem and threat in a number of regions in Indonesia. According to data from the Ministry of Health, Central Java Province is one of the DHF endemic areas with relatively high cases. If analyzed further, Karanganyar Regency is one of the areas that often contract dengue every year, recorded in 2022 to have the highest incidence rate in Central Java at 91.2/100,000 population. The presence of DHF in an area indicates the presence of factors that support vector growth, thus increasing the risk of disease transmission. This study aims to analyze the spatial pattern and spatial correlation between DHF incidence and population density in Karanganyar Regency in 2020-2022. The research method used was quantitative analytic with a secondary data approach using an observational research design. The data used included information on dengue incidence and population density in 17 sub-districts obtained from the Health Office and the Central Bureau of Statistics. Data analysis used Moran's Index and LISA to analyze the spatial correlation between DHF incidence and population density in Karanganyar Regency. The spatial pattern of DHF incidence showed variation between 2020 - 2022. In 2020 the pattern was random and not statistically significant while the following years 2021 and 2022 the spatial pattern showed a statistically significant clustering pattern from the Moran's Index results. There is a significant spatial correlation between DHF incidence and population density in 2020 - 2022 from the LISA results, with a higher than expected Moran's I value (-0.667). There were significant 6 sub-districts in 2020 and 7 sub-districts in 2021 and 2022 in the High-High, Low-High and Low-Low quadrants. This indicates a strong relationship between DHF incidence and population density in Karanganyar Regency.
