Abstract
There are several things that affect mothers in providing exclusive breastfeeding, one of which is knowledge. Working mothers need to know the importance of lactation management so that babies continue to get exclusive breast milk. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between maternal knowledge about lactation management and exclusive breastfeeding for working mothers. This study used a cross-sectional design using a questionnaire involving 46 respondents who are working mothers. Sample collection uses snowball sampling, samples are taken by giving a questionnaire to one breastfeeding mother as the first sample, then the mother distributes it to other and so on until 46 samples are obtained. Knowledge data collection was obtained through lactation management knowledge questionnaires and exclusive breastfeeding data was obtained through exclusive breastfeeding questionnaires. The data obtained was then analyzed using Chi-square to determine the correlation between mothers' knowledge about lactation management and exclusive breastfeeding. 65.2% of respondents was well-educated mothers and 60.9% of respondents belonged to exclusively breastfeeding mothers. Well-informed mothers gave exclusive breastfeeding was 66.7% and well-informed mothers did not breastfeed exclusively was 33.3%. There was no correlation between lactation management knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding. Breastfeeding mothers should be given more information about the importance of lactation management, so that the success of exclusive breastfeeding can occur.
