Abstract

This research analyses the representation of sexism in the video clip of Blackpink feat Selena Gomez entitled "Ice Cream". This research is qualitative research with a critical paradigm and Roland Barthes semiotic analysis. The analysis was carried out using three stages, namely denotation which is the actual meaning, connotation which is a figurative meaning and mythical meaning which is approved by the audience. Data collection was carried out by observing and then interpreting seven selected scenes in the video clip entitled Ice Cream by Blackpink feat Selena Gomez which contained elements of sexism. The results show that women are figures who always understand what men need, seen from the two scans which show that women are always able to understand men. Then women as figures who can be trusted are shown with a scene showing women maintaining a calm attitude so that men become safe and trust them. Furthermore, women as attractive figures highlight the view that women's bodies and movements are considered attractive and can be objects of desire for men. Blackpink and Selena Gomez in the video clip entitled "Ice Cream" are depicted as figures who display their sensual side through clothing, makeup, body parts, body gestures and emotional expressions in the video clip which is used by capitalism as a tool to display an image. and the sexy side.
