Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine and analyze the transaction system for using credit cards at minimarkets in Surakarta and its implementation in the transaction system for using credit cards from the perspective of Sharia Economic Law. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, data was collected through literature study and interviews with related parties. Rapid economic development and increasing societal needs have encouraged an increasingly consumerist lifestyle. Effective and efficient payment tools are really needed, one of which is a credit card. Credit cards make transactions easy without the need to carry large amounts of cash. However, its use is often deviant and triggers a consumerist and indebted lifestyle. This research examines the credit card transaction system from the perspective of sharia economic law, which is different from debit card law, especially regarding the element of usury. The results of this research show that the transaction system for using credit cards at minimarkets in Surakarta involves several parties, including banks as card issuers, customers as card holders, and traders. The implementation of credit card transactions in terms of Sharia Economic Law emphasizes that the use of credit cards that contain elements of usury is haram. In addition, penalties and interest charged in credit card transactions are also categorized as usury, which is prohibited in Islam. The use of credit cards in transactions at minimarkets in Surakarta must be reviewed to ensure compliance with the principles of Sharia Economic Law. Islamic banking needs to offer an alternative that is free from usury and in accordance with Islamic principles.
