Abstract
Speech acts are a means of communication with speakers. The act of communication speaks about the motivation behind the communication or the meaning of the words. Speech acts are joint actions with body language and body posture accompanied by language to support the speaker's goals. This research aims to describe the description and strategies of teachers' directive speech acts in learning Indonesian at SMPN 1 Slogohimo. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection, observation and interview techniques. The results of this research show that the types of directive speech acts found in SMPN 1 Slogohimo include: Types of requests (requestives), questions (questions), commands (requrements), prohibitions (prohibitive), -giving permission (permissives), and advice (advisories ). The function of directive speech acts was found to include: 2 utterances of asking, 2 utterances of requesting and saying, 2 utterances requiring, 9 utterances asking, 2 utterances forbidding, 3 utterances advising, 5 utterances wanting, 3 utterances instructing, 1 utterance directing, 2 utterances inviting and praying , 1 utterance allows, 2 utterances suggest, 1 prayer function, 1 function allows and requires.
