Abstract
Background: Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a disorder or damage to the brain that is non-progressive in nature that occurs during the process of growth and development. This abnormality or damage can occur while in the womb (prenatal), during the process of giving birth (perinatal), or after the process birth (postnatal). Cerebral Palsy can cause disturbances in attitude (posture), movement control, impaired muscle strength which is usually accompanied by neurological disorders in the form of paralysis, spasticity, disorders of the basal ganglia, cerebellum and mental disorders. Research Objectives: To determine the relationship between children with cerebral palsy and standing balance at the Ridho Aisyah Bersinar Jatinom Foundation, Central Java. Research Methods: This research method uses a cross sectional research design with a correlational research design. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 28 respondents with cerebral palsy. Research Results: The results of this study first used a characteristic test to describe each of the variables obtained where male gender had a presentation level (63.3%) and women had a percentage level (36.7%). Then, both of these studies used a test using the Shapiro Wilk normality test with sample X, namely cerebral palsy with results (0.000) not normally distributed and sample Y, namely balance disorders (0.996) with results normally distributed. Furthermore, these three studies used the Pearson bivariate correlation test to determine whether there was a relationship or not between variable X and variable Y where uncorrelated results were obtained (-0.20), negative or not unidirectional. Where if variable X increases then variable Y decreases or vice versa.mConclusion: From the results of research that has been done, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between children with cerebral palsy and standing balance.
