Abstract

New students as social creatures are faced with demands to adapt to a new environment. During the transition period from high school to college, there are conditions that require students to adapt to new learning environments and teaching techniques, each individual is different. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between academic self-efficacy and social support and adjustment in new student. The research method used is quantitative correlational with research instruments using social support scale questionnaires, academic self-efficacy and self-adjustment and accidental sampling techniques. The subjects used in this research were UMS new periodic students. Data analysis uses multiple linear regression. The research results show a large F value (31.765) and a significance value (0.000 < 0.05) indicating that there is a significant relationship between the Academic Self-Efficacy and Social Support variables on the Personal Adjustment variable. The high R-square value (0.270) shows that 27% of the variation in Personal Adjustment can be explained by variations in Academic Self-Efficacy and Social Support. The correlation value: 0.456 with significance: 0.000 (sig < 0.05) on the academic self-efficacy variable with self-adjustment. Correlation value: 0.426 with significance: 0.000 (sig < 0.05) is shown in the relationship between social support and personal adjustment. The conclusions in this study show that the variables Academic Self-Efficacy and Social Support have a significant positive relationship with Self-Adjustment. This means that the higher a person's level of Academic Self-Efficacy and Social Support, the higher the level of Self-Adjustment.
