Abstract
The recent phenomenon where many Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia are making the Tahfizul Qur'an program as their superior program leaves a problem that there are still many students memorizing the Qur'an who experience a decline in morals, such as bullying towards friends, disrespect towards teachers and parents, and other immoral acts, as reported by www.bbc.com and metro.tempo. co, about the high number of bullying cases within Islamic boarding schools committed by seniors against their juniors. Therefore, it is important for educational institutions to equip their students who memorize the Qur'an by providing materials on the morals of a person who memorizes the Qur'an. The objective of this research is to analyze the relevance of the concept of Morals for Memorizers of the Qur'an as explained in the book H}ilyatu T}a>libil‘Ilmi and H}ilyatu Ahlil Qur'an, with respect to the development of affective competencies of boarding school students who memorize the Qur'an. This research provides benefits which include enriching the scientific treasure of Islamic religious education and further understanding how the concept of morals for memorizers of the Qur'an, especially for researchers, education practitioners, and for a reference source for educational institutions. This research is qualitative in nature. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, which describes the concept of morals for the memorizers of the Qur'an sourced from the book H}ilyatu T}a>libil‘Ilmi and H}ilyatu Ahlil Qur'an and explores its relevance to the affective competencies of students. This Thesis research adopts the field research method, which involves direct observation through field observations, interviews, and distributing questionnaires. The results of this study explain the concept of morals for memorizers of the Qur'an, the pattern of moral development of students, and its relevance to the development of affective competencies of students who memorize the Qur'an. The discovered concepts include: the concept of morals towards oneself, the concept of morals towards teachers, the concept of morals towards friends, the concept of morals towards mosques, and the concept of morals towards their scientific life. The relevance of applying these concepts in various activities in Islamic boarding schools shows that the overall affective competencies of students are developing well and there is a strong relevance between the moral concepts applied in some activities as a pattern of moral development to the development of affective competencies in its various areas.
