Abstract

In the industrial world most of the work is physically heavy and dangerous or boring jobs are replaced by machines or robots, this will certainly reduce the amount of labor. Besides, with automation system is very possible a production activity carried out massively in a relatively short time. Therefore, the Industrial Engineering Program of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta provides Industrial Automation course to bridge the students to study industrial automation system. However, based on the initial observation, it can be concluded that the teaching and learning process lacked the tools to display the programming result visually. Therefore, this research is done to design and make trainer kit of PLC and pneumatic system and its program as media to display program error visually. In the process of designing industrial automation trainer tool is done by benchmarking. The results stated that the automated trainer tool can answer the lack of teaching and learning process of industrial automation course about students not knowing the mistake in PLC and pneumatic programming because there is no tool to display program error visually.
