Abstract

Legundi (Vitex Trifolia Linn) is a plant that contains essential oils. Legundi is a plant that has many types of species. The antibacterial activity of legundi plants against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria can be an indication of the presence of broad-spectrum antibiotic compounds or general metabolic toxins. This study aims to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of legundi leaf essential oil (MADL) on the growth of Streptococcus Pneumoniae and Klebsiella Pneumoniae bacteria with chloramphenicol. There were 6 treatments, MADL 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, K+ (Chloramphenicol), and K- (DMSO 20%) with 4 repetitions. This research is a true experimental laboratory research with a post test only controlled group design method. Legundi leaf essential oil has significant antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae and Klebsiella Pneumoniae. Keywords : essential oil of legundi leaves, antibacterial activity, streptococcus pneumoniae, klebsiella pneumoniae.
