Abstract

The problems of marginalized groups in Indonesia are still being resolved every year, examples of marginalized groups include abandoned children and street children. Marginalized children in the form of neglected children and street children live in social, economic and environmental conditions that do not fulfill their basic rights. Marginalized children are still a serious problem in Indonesia, and Gunungkidul Regency is no exception. Based on BAPPEDA D.I Yogyakarta, in 2023 Gunungkidul Regency was ranked as having the highest number of street children and abandoned children in the province of D.I Yogyakarta, with 34 street children and 2,162 abandoned children. The purpose of this design is to design a halfway house that can provide children's basic rights in the form of protection, education, and arts-based training. The methods used are literature studies, observations, interviews and case studies. The result of the design is a halfway house for marginalized children, which is equipped with residential facilities, education, arts training, and health services. The existence of an arts-based halfway house is expected to be a place for children to develop their talents and potentials while preserving the arts in Gunungkidul. The behavioral architecture approach is applied in the building concept so that it can produce a design that fits the character and supports all their activities.
