Abstract
Paving blocks function as a ground surface cover. Paving blocks are a building material that is used as a layer or road structure other than asphalt or concrete. One of the innovations is to add a mixture of paving block proportions with additional materials. The addition of these additional materials aims to modify the properties and characteristics of paving blocks, for example to increase the strength of paving blocks, save costs and so on. In thiswliterature study, a summary of three studies was carried out related to the compressive strength and water absorption of paving blocks with the addition of different additives, namely ceramic fragments, tile fragments and broken wall fragments with mixed variations of 0%, 20%, 30% and 40. %. From the added ingredients of ceramic shards, tile shards and wall shards that meet SNI, it was found that the mixture of ceramic shards can improve the quality of paving blocks
