Abstract

The proliferation and prevalence of hoaxes today has made many people uneasy, as many consequences have been created ranging from dissension, hostility, to polarization. Especially now that the era has entered the postruth era, where expertise has disappeared and many truth claims have emerged. The Qur'an as a guide to life certainly provides a solution to this. Surah Al-Hujurat verse 6 provides the answer, How is it implemented in the form of tahlili method? What is the concept of Hoax and how is tabayyun effort in fighting hoax? This research is a literature research in which it uses documents as its research subject, such as books, journals, papers, historical records or so on. This research tries to reveal the efforts and role of tabayyun in fighting hoaxes with descriptive analysis method. Through this research, it can be obtained that hoaxes which are part of the news have had various adverse effects ranging from hate speech, fanaticism, and unclear sources of information and leading to divisions between communities. Tabayyun, which is a selective and thorough attitude, is a message that Allah has conveyed through Surah Al-Hujurat verse 6 as the antithesis of fake news (hoax) so that later you will not experience regret when you get a false information. When tabayyun awareness has grown in every human being, hoaxes will be minimized, avoid division and hostility, no society will be harmed, and a safe, peaceful, and loving society will emerge.
