Abstract
Creating a design for an optimal Performing Arts and Culture Centre that aligns with spatial functionality is the primary objective. The neo-vernacular architectural approach is chosen to provide a strong identity and reference to local heritage. Literature review is conducted to deepen the understanding of the needs and concepts, as well as to gather written resources related to performing arts and cultural centers and the neo-vernacular architectural approach. Comparative studies are carried out to explore similar facilities that employ the neo-vernacular architectural approach, providing a clearer picture of the design direction relevant to this project. Field research is crucial to find a suitable location for the performing arts and cultural center. Pemalang has many historical and cultural relics but lacks adequate places to preserve these heritage sites. From there emerges the idea to design a Performing Arts and Culture Centre that can serve as a venue for preserving this cultural heritage, allowing it to be continuously preserved and enjoyed by visitors. Through this design, it is also hoped that the community can become more acquainted with the city of Pemalang and its history.
