Abstract

This research aims to find out the identity of communication in the Samin tribe in Blora, Java Middle. The Samin tribe is one of the indigenous communities that still maintains the cultural heritage of their ancestors. This research uses the communication identity theory proposed by Michael Hetch. This theory explains that communication identity is classified into 4 layers, namely personal layer, enactment layer, relational layer, and communal layer. This type of research is qualitative using descriptive methods. This research used in-depth interview techniques as data collection with the research subjects being 5 members of the Samin tribe who were taken using snowball sampling techniques. Data was validated using source triangulation. The results of the research show that the personal layer of the Samin Tribe as a form of identity has feelings of pride and joy in being a member of the Samin Tribe. The enactment layer of the Samin tribe is characterized by wearing all black clothing, a polite way of speaking and polite behavior. Relational layer The Samin tribe has good relations between fellow Samin tribes and communities outside them. The Samin tribe's communal layer maintains their traditional culture and teaches it to subsequent generations.
