Abstract

This research aims to (1) describe the pragmatic power contained in the titles of electronic media educational discourse newsTribunnews.com, Kompas.com, Detiknews, Antaranews and Liputan6.com, (2) explain the use of pragmatic power research results as teaching materials for language learning Indonesia. This research is qualitative research in accordance with the qualitative approach, the data used in this research are sentences in online news titles which have pragmatic power. The data sources were obtained from online news titles reported on Tribunnews.com, Kompas.com, Detiknews, Antaranews and Liputan6.com. In accordance with the data sources used in this research, data collection in this research used listening, note-taking and photo or screenshot documentation techniques. The data analysis method in this research uses the intralingual matching method and the pragmatic matching method. The referential equivalent method means that the tool used is the designated language referent. The intralingual matching method is used to identify the manifestation of pragmatic power contained in online news titles. The pragmatic equivalent method is used to determine the context of speech. Furthermore, to test the validity of the data in this research, the theoretical triangulation method was used. The results of this research are (1) The forms of pragmatic power found in online news titles are a) telling, b) explaining, c) suggesting, d) hoping, e) inviting, f) insinuating, g) criticizing and h) requesting. (2) The use of pragmatic forms of power in learning Indonesian can be integrated in learning linguistic rules for class XI high school drama texts.
