Abstract

Instagram social media is a form of the rapid development of communication technology. Instagram is a social media that has various features that have positive and negative impacts on students. The advantages of Instagram's features make some users open businesses through Instagram. Having an account that opens an online business on Instagram can trigger users to behave consumptive in their lifestyle. This research aims to determine the effect of the intensity of accessing Instagram on the lifestyle of Communication Science students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta class of 2022. The data used in this research was obtained by conducting a survey of 73 sample respondents taken from 267 active UMS Communication Science students class of 2022 and who are users. Instagram. This type of research uses a quantitative approach. The theory used in this research is the Usses and Effect Theory. Then the analysis technique that researchers used in this research was simple linear regression analysis. The results of this study show that there is an influence of Instagram on the Lifestyle of Communication Science Students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta Class of 2022. This is proven by the sig (2-tailed) significance value being less than 0.01 (0.000 < 0.01), so Ha is accepted, which means This means that there is an influence of Instagram on the Lifestyle of Communication Science Students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta Class of 2022.
