Abstract
Airfoil is an aerodynamic geometric shape that can produce large lift with the smallest possible drag force when passing through fluid. In this study, a simulation experiment of NACA 2412 airfoil was conducted with the Cessna 172 Aircraft Model designed and data taken in the form of Streamline and graphs using the Computational Method with XFLR5 Software. The experiment was conducted with the aim of determining the aerodynamic characteristics of the Airfoil at a certain angle of attack and a certain airflow velocity and then analyzing the effect of the angle of attack and airflow velocity on the performance of the airfoil. The variations used are the angle of attack from -5º to 20º, while the wind speed used is 25 m / s, 45 m / s and 65 m / s. in this study the lift coefficient experiences good lift and the drag coefficient experiences little drag, while the lift coefficient to the Angle of Attack is directly proportional. The greater the angle of attack and the greater the airflow velocity, the greater the value of the lift and drag forces.
