Abstract
Many school snacks are still unhealthily prepared and pose a risk of poisoning. Food additives are frequently used in food processing. This can be seen in various types of food with different colors and flavors and is accessible almost everywhere, including school environments. Research conducted by Widyasari and Asyfiradayanti in Kartasura in 2023 found that out of 43 samples, 7 (16.27%) were positive for borax and 15 (34.88%) were positive for formalin. To determine the relationship between the length of time selling and knowledge about borax and formalin among street food vendors in elementary school environments in Kartasura. Method: The study was conducted using a cross-sectional design. Data were collected using questionnaires and observations. The study was conducted at 23 elementary schools in Kartasura with 69 vendors as respondents. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data analysis used Fisher’s Exact Test to examine the relationship between the length of time selling and knowledge. The analysis using Fisher’s Exact Test found that vendors with shorter selling times (new) had better knowledge, with 30 respondents (66.7%). The p-value was 0.794, which is greater than 0.05, indicating no relationship between the length of time selling and knowledge about borax and formalin among street food vendors in elementary school environments in Kartasura. There is no relationship between the length of time selling and knowledge. New vendors have better knowledge than those with longer selling times..
