Abstract

Asemdoyong is a village located in Taman Subdistrict, Pemalang Regency which has a fishery facility called Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai (PPP) Asemdoyong and a tourist area called Muara Indah Beach. Its location, which is directly adjacent to the Java Sea, makes the economic potential in the field of marine fisheries in this village quite promising if it can be developed together with the development of the tourism sector. However, the fishery and tourism area of Asemdoyong Village face a challenge to develop as a larger economical district. The challenge that causes the underdevelopment of its center of activity in the fishery sector is the environmental conditions of PPP Asemdoyong which are not relevant to the current development. Such conditions are characterized by its poor cleanliness and sanitation condition as well as the limited infrastructures. The effort chosen to realise the region development is by designing a fish trade center integrated with the tourism district. The development of this new economical district adopts the regionalism-contemporary style architecture and waterfront-based contextual architectural concept. The results from the integration efforts will create a well-organized and mutually supportive economic area in the production, distribution, and consumption of the fishery products as well as in the tourism sector that accommodates the recreational and commercial functions.
