Abstract
In completing a thesis, it is expected that senior students have a low level of anxiety so that they can compile the thesis smoothly without obstacles. However, in reality, students have a high level of anxiety during thesis writing. Factors influencing thesis-writing anxiety are self-efficacy and social support. The purpose of this research is to (1) determine the relationship between self-efficacy and thesis-writing anxiety in senior students, (2) determine the relationship between social support and thesis-writing anxiety in senior students, and (3) the relationship between self-efficacy and social support with thesis-writing anxiety in senior students. The major hypothesis is that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and social support with thesis-writing anxiety in senior students, while the minor hypotheses are (1) there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and thesis-writing anxiety in senior students, (2) there is a negative relationship between social support and thesis-writing anxiety in senior students. This research uses correlational quantitative methods. The population in this Active students of the final year of the 2019-2020 S1 class of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta totalling 469 students in 2023. The sampling technique used is non-random purposive sampling, with 100 senior students as respondents. Data collection methods use anxiety scales, self-efficacy scales, and social support scales. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis technique using IBM SPSS Statistics 24. The results show that there is a very significant relationship between self-efficacy and social support with thesis-writing anxiety in senior students (F = 50.580; p = 0.000; p < 0.01). There is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and thesis-writing anxiety in senior students (correlation value (r) = -0.597; p = 0.000; p <0.01). There is a negative relationship between social support and thesis-writing anxiety in senior students (correlation value (r) = -0.296; p = 0.000; p <0.01). The level of thesis-writing anxiety, self-efficacy, and social support in senior students is classified as high. The effective contribution provided by each variable is 51%, with self-efficacy having a greater influence at 39.28% and social support at 11.75%.
