Abstract

The university is a place for planting and shaping the character of future leaders, in order not only to be a place to develop science, but also to form personality, independence, social skills and a place of caderization to continue Indonesia's leadership in the future. Educational practice pays attention only to the cognitive aspect and neglects the fostering of affective and psychomotor aspects, resulting in gaps in experience and knowledge. Hizbul Wathan is a vehicle for shaping and fostering the character of an Islamic leader. The aim of this study was to decipher the role of Hizbul Wathan Scouting activities in shaping the character of Islamic leaders and to describe factors supporting and inhibiting the role of Hizbul Wathan activities in shaping the character of Islamic leaders. This type of research uses field research with a phenomenological approach. Data collection procedures are used using observations, interviews, and documentation. Whereas data analysis using qualitative analysis with interactive models includes: data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing. As for testing the validity of data using source triangulation and triangulation techniques. The results of this study show that the process of formation of Islamic character through Hizbul Wathan activities is well underway and uses its own strategies. There are three stages that are carried out in shaping the character of the Islamic leader, namely the stage with the approach of the value of obedience, the value of morality, and leadership. The methods used are with regularity, habituation, advice and supervision.
