Abstract

Final-year students in pesantren often experience stress, which can adversely affect their mental health and social interactions. This research focuses on how such stress can hinder their educational attainment and character development. Various factors, including biological, personality, psychological, and social aspects, can influence stress levels. This study was conducted aiming to investigate how coping strategies can reduce the impact of stress pressure on final year boarding school students. The hypothesis proposed was that effective coping strategies correlate with reduced stress. This study utilised a correlational quantitative method, by surveying 86 final year students from Muhammadiyah Boarding School in Klaten. Stress levels and coping mechanisms were measured using specific scales and analysed through Pearson's Product Moment correlation. The results of this study indicate that coping strategies play a pivotal role in influencing stress management and mental health, with profound implications for adolescents' religious education and stress understanding in the pesantren environment. In addition, the analyses corroborated that superior coping strategies were associated with reduced distress among the students, underscoring the value of these strategies in managing educational stress in pesantren.
