Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of the independent curriculum on learning motivation among students at SMK Muhammadiyah 02 Karanganyar. This research uses a qualitative research method with a case study research design where the informants are the head of the curriculum, vocational subject teachers, and students of SMK Muhammadiyah 02 Karanganyar. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. This research uses source triangulation and technique triangulation to test data creativity. The data analysis techniques used in this research are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum at SMK Muhammadiyah 02 Karanganyar brought changes in the learning approach at the school. Freedom in the learning process is considered a key element, showing significant differences with the previous curriculum. However, obstacles were also seen during the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum, including the level of difficulty of the curriculum which was considered too high for the school level, teachers' lack of understanding regarding the Merdeka curriculum, especially in the context of developments in information technology, which also became a challenge, and some students felt unfamiliar with the model. this learning. Apart from that, the results of this research also show that the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum at SMK Muhammadiyah 02 Karanganyar can increase student learning motivation with computer learning, freedom to choose materials and methods, recognition of individual contributions, the use of fun methods, and the involvement of each alumni in making a contribution. important in forming students' enthusiasm for learning.
