Abstract

A first-time voter is someone who has qualified to participate in a general election for the first time. Novice voters have high enthusiasm in participating in general elections, but novice voters still lack understanding of political science so they are not stable in making choices. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of gender on the voting behavior of novice voters in the 2024 general election. This study used acpmparative quantitative. This research was conducted in the city of Surakarta, Central Java. The subject of the study was someone who had never participated in a general election (first-time voters) involving as many as 233 people. The measurement in this study is the voting behavior scale. Data is collected using google forms that are distributed to first-time voters. The data obtained in this study will be analyzed using Mann-Whitney using the JASP application version 0.18.3. The results of this study showed that gender on the voting behavior of novice voters got a significant influence result of < .001. and the results show that age has no effect with a p value of 0.374.
