Abstract

First-time voters are a group that requires special attention in the election agenda. The voting behavior of first-time voters is influenced by several factors, one of which is the preference for presidential candidates. This study aims to examine the impact of presidential candidate preference on the voting behavior of first-time voters who will vote in the 2024 General Election. This research is comparative quantitative research. The population in this study is first-time voters who will vote for the first time in the 2024 General in the city of Surakarta. The total number of voters in Surakarta is 439.009 with a sample size of 234 obtained through purposive sampling. Data in this study were collected using a questionnaire distributed online via Google Form. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test. The results show a significant impact of presidential candidate preferences on the voting behavior of first-time voters who will vote in the 2024 General Election with a significance value of =0.333 (p < 0.05).
