Abstract

Motivation to learn is important for students to be successful in their studies. Motivation to learn is influenced by many factors, two of which are social support factors and self-efficacy factors. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of social support and self-efficacy on the learning motivation of students at the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammdiyah University, Surakarta. This research is a correlational quantitative research. This research was conducted on 153 students from the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammdiyah University, Surakarta, class 2020-2022. The sampling technique uses Accidental Sampling. This research uses three scales, namely the social support scale, self-efficacy scale and learning motivation scale. The data analysis used was linear regression of two predictors. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant influence between social support and self-efficacy and student learning motivation so that the major hypothesis can be accepted. Meanwhile, the results of the analysis of the first minor hypothesis show that the social support variable (X2) has a positive and significant influence on student learning motivation. Meanwhile, the results of the second hypothesis analysis show that the self-efficacy variable (X2) has a positive and significant influence on student learning motivation. The Summary Model obtained an R Square of 0.801, which means that the Social Support and Self-Efficacy variables influence the Learning Motivation variable by 80.01% simultaneously. With partial details, the Social Support variable has an influence on the Learning Motivation variable by 25.90%, the Self-Efficacy variable has an influence on the Learning Motivation variable by 54.18%, and other variables have an influence of 19.90% on the Learning Motivation variable. Then the categorization results explain that students from the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta have moderate learning motivation, and have high social support, and also have a high level of self-efficacy.
