Abstract

A gate is a form of security that can be applied to a building to maintain the security of the building. Conventional gates that initially required manual action from the homeowner to open and close can now operate automatically through facial recognition technology. The aim of this research is to create a gate that can open independently using a facial recognition reading system and close independently using a infrared sensor without direct assistance from the owner. This research uses several components such as raspberry, LCD touchscreen, infrared sensor, camera, and stepper motor. The components used have their respective roles, such as the raspberry which functions as a program algorithm code processor, the LCD touchscreen functions as an interface between the device and the user, the infrared sensor functions as a sender of input values to close the gate, the camera functions as a sender of input values to open the gate. , and the stepper motor functions to move the gate. The face recognition system uses Dlib as an image processor. In dlib there is a change in image color to grayscale, then after changing the image color the gradient value and size of each pixel in the image will be calculated using the Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) method. The research results show that when the face captured by the camera is detected the same as the image in the database, the stepper motor will move counterclockwise to open the gate, then the stepper motor will move clockwise to close the gate when the infrared sensor detects a movement passing through it. In this system there is also a system for adding new facial data using facial recognition to access it, and there is also a system for deleting files that are no longer needed.
