Abstract

The high unemployment rate in Indonesia is predominantly comprised of fresh graduates or bachelor’s degree holders. According to several studies and surveys, this occurs due to a lack of job readiness; they feel unprepared to face the working world, including the responsibilities they will shoulder. Job readiness is influenced by internal factors, such as self-efficacy, and external factors, such as social support. This research aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and social support on job readiness among final-year students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The method used in this study is quantitative correlational, with the research subjects being students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, with the criterion being students currently working on their thesis. The selected sample consists of 130 students, with 42 male students and 88 female students. Three scales are used in this study: the self-efficacy scale, the social support scale, and the job readiness scale. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate a significant correlation between self-efficacy and social support on job readiness, as evidenced by the self-efficacy and social support variables on job readiness showing an R value of 0.570, an F value of 30.516, and a significance level of 0.000 (p ≤ 0.01). The findings of the study indicate that: 1) there is a relationship between self-efficacy and social support on job readiness; 2) there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and job readiness; 3) there is a positive relationship between social support and job readiness. The effective contribution in this study reaches 32.3%, with the self-efficacy variable influencing job readiness by 24.2% and the social support variable influencing job readiness by 8.1%. The remaining 67.7% is influenced by other variables outside the study.
