Abstract
Indonesia is a country with a tropical climate that is rich in natural resources. Apart from that, Indonesia is also called an agricultural country because of its extensive rice fields. Land is defined as an area on the earth's surface that includes various interrelated things (biosphere, atmosphere, geology, soil, living things, hydrology) that influence land use. Bayat District is one of the sub-districts in Klaten Regency, Central Java Province. The geomorphological conditions of Bayat District can be said to be varied where the area is lowland but there are 2 hills that divide in the middle, apart from that there are differences in several aspects such as the availability of water for agriculture. and especially in the differences in the number of rice harvest times. Potential land is land that has a high level of fertility and productivity. The aim of this research is to determine the distribution of rice fields and non-rice fields, analyzing the Potential Index for rice fields in Bayat District. The assessment of the Rice Field Potential Index was carried out using a Geographic Information System with ArcGIS software with scoring and overlay methods.The research results show that there are 3 classes for the Paddy Land Potential Index in Bayat District, medium class, low class and very low class.
