Abstract
Background Low back pain (LBP) is a feeling of discomfort in the lower back caused by various things which can result in the muscles that function to maintain body balance experiencing injury or irritation of the intervertebral discs and compression of the discs can occur against the nerves which cause them to exit through between vertebrae. To reduce the discomfort that arises, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and iontophoresis are added after manipulation therapy is given. The aim of the study was to determine the difference in the duration of the analgesic effect between administering iontophoresis and TENS after administering manipulation therapy in cases of low back pain. The method used is quantitative descriptive. In this study there were 12 respondents divided into 3 groups using purposive sampling. The data analysis technique uses Kruskall Wallis. The statistical test results of the data have a significance value of 0.002, namely that there is a difference in the duration of the analgesic effect between giving iontophoresis and TENS after giving manipulation therapy for low back pain. The conclusion is that there is a difference in the duration of analgesia between administering iontophoresis and TENS after administering manipulation therapy for low back pain. Where the analgesic duration of giving iontophoresis after manipulation therapy was felt by respondents to be longer compared to giving TENS after manipulation therapy and only being given manipulation therapy.
