Abstract

Waste is a negative impact of the progress made by humans, both in the industrial and agricultural fields, to improve their standard of living. One of the waste treatment in modern times like now is using WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plant) which is divided into 2 types, namely individual / single WWTP used in individual residential areas and City / group WWTP used in Klaten Rusunawa buildings. In order to find out whether the results of waste treatment have met the applicable environmental standards so as not to damage the natural ecosystem around Klaten Rusunawa, so that a healthy and non-polluting environment can be created. In knowing this, a wastewater lab test is carried out when entering out through the WWTP unit If the WWTP unit in the field does not meet the applicable environmental standards, it is necessary to evaluate it by doing Re-Design. In this study, the method used is the DEWATS planning method which consists of dual filtration, namely with Anaerobic Baffle Reactor and Anaerobic Biofilter. The main objective of this research is also to test or evaluate the feasibility of wastewater treatment facilities designed by the Klaten Regency Housing and Settlement Office (DISPERAKIM). Some waste levels after going through lab tests at BBTKLPP Yogyakarta still exceed water quality standards such as COD 123.5 mg/l, Ammonia nitrogen 20.81 mg/l and total coliform 240.10⁴ MPN/100 ml. After the research, it is known that the results of analysis and calculation using the DEWATS method show that the efficiency of wastewater treatment is better than the original field design. This conclusion can be drawn from the results of wastewater treatment with COD and BOD contents of 80.19 mg/l and 12.11 mg/l respectively for the Anaerobic Biofilter filter and COD and BOD contents of 64.45 mg/l and 8.87 mg/l respectively for the Anaerobic Baffle Reactor. It can be concluded that the WWTP with the DEWATS method has a better waste treatment efficiency than the WWTP designed by DISPERAKIM Klaten Regency.
