Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is maladaptive behavior carried out by teenagers, this can occur due to curiosity and influence from the environment, so it is important for teenagers to have strong self-control so that they are not easily influenced. Apart from that, if teenagers do not have clear guidance from their parents, this can also lead to juvenile delinquency, so parenting patterns from parents are no less important than teenagers' self-control. The research aims to test whether there is a relationship between permissive parenting and self-control and juvenile delinquency. Sampling used a random sampling technique with the sample being 235 Muhammadiyah Gubug High School students with the characteristics of students aged 10-18 years. The research uses multiple linear regression analysis techniques with data collection tools in the form of scales and data analysis is assisted using SPSS software tools. The results of the research show that permissive parenting and self-control have a significant effect on juvenile delinquency in students with results of R = 0.748 and a sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05), then a permissive parenting pattern has a positive and significant effect on teenagers' acquaintances with the result R = 0.704 and a sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05), while self-control has a negative effect on juvenile delinquency in students with the results R = -0.566 and a sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05). The total effective contribution in this research was 56%, with details of the permissive parenting pattern variable being 39% and the self-control variable being 17%, while the other 44% was determined by other factors not studied.
