Abstract

In principle, zakat does not only aim to fulfill the basic needs of the mustahiq, especially the poor, which is consumptive in a short period of time. The consumptive approach in zakat management is an effort to fulfill the basic economic needs of mustahiq by providing staples that can be consumed directly. This research will look for the effect of productive zakat utilization by BAZNAS Surakarta City on mustahiq empowerment, especially the poor. This research is included in a field study with a qualitative approach. There is an influence of the utilization of productive zakat distributed by BAZNAS Surakarta City on mustahiq empowerment (Fakir Miskin) which has made an appropriate contribution in the process of assistance to mustahiq. The influence is evidenced by the improvement in their lives and there has been an increase of 50% from the previous income. This regular supervision will also reduce the possibility of violations of the agreement by those who receive benefits related to the agreement with BAZNAS Surakarta City.
