Abstract

Balance is the ability to use several body systems to maintain the center of gravity. Personal Balance Feedback (PBF) is a balance test tool consisting of a Rassberry pi equipped with an IMU sensor to detect body sway and tilt as well as a scale containing four load sensors for weight distribution. This research aims to test the validity and reliability of the PBF tool. This research uses a quantitative design with a validity test method using Pearson correlation (r) and a reliability test using the ALPHA model static reliability analysis scale test using the intra class correlation (ICC) method. Measurements were carried out 3 times with a time interval of 3 minutes. There were 50 respondents taken using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method. The results obtained from the weight support validity test showed a significance value of p=0.000 and p=0.001 (p<0.05) and a value of r>0.400 (moderate correlation) and r>0.6 (strong correlation). The validity test on forward-back body sway obtained a significance value of p=0.00 (p<0.05) with a value of r>0.800 (very strong correlation). The validity test on body sway to the right and left obtained a significance value of p=0.000 (p<0.05) with a value of r>0.600 (strong correlation). Reliability tests on body weight support, front-back body sway and right-left sway produced high reliability values, respectively producing ICC values of 0.784, 0.898 and 0.940. So from these results it was found that the PBF tool is valid and reliable as a tool to measure balance in elderly people.
