Abstract

Gedongan Village, which is located in Colomadu sub-district, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province, is one of the villages that has a village government. However, in implementing this government, the Village Consultative Body (BPD) was not fully involved. This can be seen from the lack of full involvement in the BPD secretariat and the readiness of BPD members to carry out their duties and functions. The use of the secretariat, which should be a place for BPD members to work, is not optimal, and the participation of each BPD member in village governance is still low, especially in attending meetings to discuss community problems. This research applies an empirical juridical approach, namely a method that combines juridical and empirical approaches. This research was conducted in Gedongan Village, Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency. Researchers can conclude that the performance of the BPD in Gedongan Village is not running effectively because it always faces several problems such as inadequate facilities and infrastructure, such as office facilities for the BPD to carry out activities such as meetings. Community factors such as the inadequate quality of human resources and a lack of understanding and understanding of the implementation of supervisory functions in the village make the BPD's performance slightly slower compared to other advanced villages.
