Abstract

Illegal pawning is a serious problem in Indonesia that significantly affects society and the economy. Illegal pawn practices, which often operate outside the regulatory framework established by governments, can harm individuals involved in these transactions. Therefore, tackling illegal pawning is a priority for the government and related parties. Tackling illegal pawning in Indonesia also involves stricter sanctions against parties involved in this practice. Heavier penalties are imposed to reduce incentives to engage in illegal pawning. Continuous research and evaluation of policies to combat illegal pawning is important to understand the effectiveness of the actions that have been taken. With a better understanding of this problem, the Indonesian government through the OJK Institute can develop strategies to create legal regulations that are more efficient in minimizing and cracking down on illegal pawning practices and protecting the public from related risks.
