Abstract

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the result of irritation, compression, or stretching of the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel at the wrist. To determine the effect of long driving with the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome in online motorcycle taxi drivers. The design used in this study is a cross-sectional study where the measurement of the study is done once at a time, the variables are measured simultaneously and there is no follow-up. This study aims to determine the relationship between length of driving and complaints of carpal tunnel syndrome using the Boston Quisionare Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (BQCTS). The population of this study were 30 online motorcycle taxi drivers at the Sedulur Menco Raya motorcycle taxi base. The results of the normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed, so to test the relationship between the variable length of driving (X) and lov back pain (Y) using the Spearman's rho correlation test. Table 3.4 shows that the correlation between driving duration and symptom severity scale is .788", the length of driving with a functional scale is .804". means that the data has a moderate correlation because the value is less than 0.9, between the length of driving with the symptom severity scale and the functional scale. After conducting research on the length of driving with the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome in online motorcycle taxi drivers as measured by the Boston Questionnaire Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (BQCTS), the results showed that there was a relationship between length of driving and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in online motorcycle taxi drivers at the online motorcycle taxi base, Menco Raya.
