Abstract

This research focuses on ar-Razi's interpretation of h}ubb ad dunya> in Q.S. Ali Imran verse 14. The message is that the development of modern technology has caused the condition of society to tend to be more material, but empty on the spiritual side. The implication is that new mental illnesses emerge, and also the birth of modern versions of h}ubb ad dunya> such as hedonism, consumerism, and materialism. All h}ubb ad dunya> are defined by religious, philosophical, psychological and literary circles, ar-Razi is considered to be the right figure to represent all these circles at once. The purpose of this research is to find out Ar-Razi's interpretation of h}ubb ad dunya> in Q.S. Ali Imran verse 14. This type of research is qualitative, using library methods. The primary source is the book of tafsir Mafatih}ul Ghaib. The data analysis technique is descriptive-analytical. The conclusion of this research is: h}ubb ad dunya> according to ar-Razi is human nature in the form of love for worldly desires including women, children and wealth which can lead to good or evil, taking pleasure from it will bring physical and spiritual benefits . As for how to deal with it, it would be reprehensible if you left it and it would be praiseworthy if you used it for problems in the afterlife.
