Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of Arabic language learning at the Al-Muayyad Windan Islamic Boarding School. This can encourage students to improve their reading skills. This research seeks to describe the tarjamah grammar method in improving maharah qiraah 2 and identify what are the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing the tarjamah grammar method at the Al-Muayyad Windan Islamic boarding school. This research is qualitative research with a type of field research using a phenomenological approach, with technical data collection in the form of observations, interviews and document studies. The validity of the data in this research was tested using source triangulation and technical triangulation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that the implementation of the tarjamah grammar method in improving the students' maharah qiraah abilities at the al-Muayyad Windan Islamic boarding school is preceded by planning, then in the implementation there are three stages, namely: 1) initial opening activities, 2) core activities for delivering material, 3 ) final activity with learning evaluation. The supporting factors for implementing the Tarjamah grammar method are: 1) The teacher factor with a good educational background and able to master the Tarjamah grammar method, 2) The student factor who is able to understand the material presented well, 3) The good facilities and infrastructure factor and. There are also inhibiting factors, namely; 1) the method used to teach language rather than language, 2) the absence of students in learning forums, 3) the lack of creativity and activeness of students in learning.
