Abstract

When cholesterol levels are high in the body, it can increase the risk of heart and blood vessel disease. The indirect effect of anxiety disorders is an increase in cholesterol, total cholesterol is found to be higher in anxiety disorders. This study aims to determine the influence of lavender aromatherapy on the anxiety levels of individuals with hypercholesterolemia. The study employs a quantitative approach through an experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 32 participants were randomly selected to assess their anxiety levels before and after receiving lavender aromatherapy. Surveys were conducted both before and after administering lavender aromatherapy. The study instrument utilized the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale questionnaire. Data collection involved administering lavender aromatherapy, followed by distributing the questionnaire to respondents before and after the session. The statistical method used was the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test for data analysis. Hypothesis testing results indicate a probability value below 0.05, allowing us to conclude that lavender aromatherapy has a significant impact on anxiety levels in individuals with hypercholesterolemia.
