Abstract

Background: Sleep quality is the state where an individual's sleep results in freshness and fitness when they wake up. Someone with good sleep quality undoubtedly impacts both the physical and mental health of that individual. Sleep quality can be influenced by various factors, such as nighttime smartphone usage and stress levels. Purpose to investigate the relationship between smartphone usage duration and stress on the sleep quality of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Methods: an analytical observational research type with a cross-sectional design. Sample selection used purposive sampling with 100 student respondents meeting the specified criteria. Results: : there is a significant relationship between smartphone usage duration and sleep quality (p-value = 0.006 < 0.05), as well as a significant relationship between stress levels and sleep quality (p-value = 0.003 < 0.05). Conclusion : There is a relationship between smartphone usage duration and stress levels impacting the sleep quality of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta Keywords : duration of smartphone use, stress, sleep quality
