Abstract

Self-confidence is one of the positive characters that students need to have in the current era, but self-confidence problems are still found among students. Social skills training can be one way to increase self-confidence. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Social Skills Training on Self-Confidence in Santri. The research method used is an experiment with a Pre-Test Post-Test Control Group design. The sampling technique used is pruposive sampling, which selects subjects according to the research criteria. The subjects in this study were santri with female gender, class X and had social skills scores in the moderate to very low category. Subjects who met the criteria were 32 students, then divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group randomly. The instrument to measure self-confidence uses the theoretical confidence scale proposed by Lauster. Data analysis in this study used parametric statistics, namely independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test. The results of this study prove the results of the independent sample t-test calculation which shows the value of the t coefficient of 3.073 with a significance of 0.002 (p ≤ 0.05), which means that the self-confidence score in the experimental group is significantly higher than the control group score and the results of the paired sample t-test calculation.
