Abstract

Psychological well-being is the result of a person's assessment of themselves to recognize their unique potential so that individuals can function positively. Having high psychological well-being causes individuals to feel comfortable with their condition, and feel social support from others. Social skills are needed so that individuals feel social support around them. This study aims to examine the effect of social skills training in improving the psychological well-being of santri. This study used an experimental pre-test post-test control group design. A total of 62 students were obtained by purposive sampling method who had the characteristics of female students at PPTQ Ibnu Abbas, aged 12-16 years, and had a rather low and low psychological well-being score. The subjects were then divided into control groups and experimental groups by random methods. The instrument used in this study used the Indonesian Santri Well-Being Scale using Ryff's (1995) theory. Data analysis in this study used parametric statistics, namely Independent Sample T-test and Paired Sample T-test. The results of the Independent Sample T-test calculation show a significance value of 0.022 with a t coefficient value of 2.056 which means that there is a significant increase in psychological well-being scores between the experimental group and the control group and the results of the Paired Sample T-test calculation for the experimental group obtained a t coefficient value of -4.007 with a significance of 0.000 which means that there is a significant increase in scores between the pre-test and post-test. From these results, it can be concluded that there is an effect of social skills training to improve psychological well-being.
