Abstract

CO2 emissions are the release of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere as a result of community socio-economic activities. Increasing CO2 emissions in the atmosphere have a big impact on climate change, and this can have an impact on economic sectors in Indonesia. Factors that can influence CO2 emissions include economic growth, foreign direct investment, electricity consumption and coal exports, so this research aims to estimate the influence of these four variables on environmental quality in Indonesia, in terms of CO2 emission levels, 1990- 2020 in the short term and long term with Partial Adjustment Model (PAM) regression. The regression results shows that both in the short and long term, foreign investment and coal exports have no effect on CO2 emissions, while economic growth has a positive effect and electricity consumption has a negative effect on CO2 emissions in Indonesia. The government is expected to regulate sectors that produce high CO2 emissions to start implementing business operational practices that can produce lower CO2 emissions. Considering the dangerous influence of climate change on food security and the economic sector in Indonesia. Foreign investment based on environmental sustainability principles such as the use of technology and the development of low-emission infrastructure needs to be increased.
